It’s hot outside, and that means hairstyles that can withstand the heat, humidity, and hoopla that summer brings — a lot of outdoor activities! Sporting a wash n’ go could be the perfect solution to your summer style challenges…if you’ve got the right tools. Have no fear Funky Junkies…we’re here to help!
Getting that perfect Wash n’ Go may have felt out of reach for so many of us, primarily because the Wash n’ Go is by no means a “Wash-and-Go”. In order to get the look you’re desiring that can sustain not only the day, but days thereafter, you need to layer hair products. Not just any hair products, but products that will define those curls, fight frizz, and keep them moisturized.
Follow these simple steps to achieve your wash n’ go:
Step 1: Cleanse & Condition
A beautiful hairstyle starts with clean, healthy hair. Wash your hair with Rich & Funky Moisturizing Shampoo, followed by a deep condition with Richee Rich Moisturizing Conditioner. If you don’t have time for a deep condition, wash your hair when you first enter the shower and the let conditioner penetrate your hair while you finish your shower. Flip the shower nozzle to cold (as cold as you can take it) and rinse the conditioner out. The cold water will seal in the moisture and leave your hair shiny.
Step 2: Moisturize
While your hair is wet, massage your scalp with a bit of oil. Divide your hair into 4 – 6 sections based on your hair length and density to begin your wash n’ go process. Lightly rub the oil from the root to ends of your hair by section. This is a delicate step, as too much oil will end up on your neck (and you don’t want that Jheri curl flashback…do you?). If you have dry or dense, kinky hair, layer each section with a pump of Good Hair Conditioning Styling Crème to give you hair additional moisture.
The next product you grab from your toolkit will depend on your hair texture and density. For wavy curls, Good Hair’s milky texture is perfect to give moisture, elongation and curl definition. Those curly, less dense naturalistas will want to reach for the Supercurl Miracle Moisture Crème. Curlfriends with dense, curly hair and kinky hair will need our Extra Butter Brilliant Shine Crème with its thick, buttery texture to define and elongate curls. Whichever moisturizer is perfect for your curls, fingercomb from root to ends to ensure full distribution.
Step 3: Define
This final step is the key to the perfect Wash n Go. With your hair still in sections, apply one pump of Curly Magic Curl Stimulator to each section of hair from root to ends. You can use the shingle method for extra definition. Gently style with your fingers. Finally, you can dry your hair using a diffuser or just allow it to air dry.
Hit the door and let the world admire those curls!
Additional Tip: When nightfall arrives and it’s time for bed, lightly spray your hair with Midnite Train Leave-in Conditioner, being sure to spray the ends of your tresses. This will give your hair additional moisture over night. Pineapple your hair and get a good night’s rest! The next morning, grab your Thirsty Curls Revitalizer Spray to loosen any curls that aren’t quite falling into place.
Voila! Now you have the secret to the Perfect Wash n’ Go! Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Please tell me you are back in business with a salon. I will be there this week if possible!
Thank you,
Unfortunately, the salon is currently closed. We anticipate a launch in 2016!
I am looking for a good natural hair salon and styler
Sharon,
Where do you live?
I live near Spring/The Woodlands & I am wondering the same question because I have just recently moved to the Houston area. I need a great natural hair salon for hair care, color, & cut.
Karen,
Our salon is currently close, but anticipate a Spring 2016 relaunch!
Can you suggest some other salons
Karen,
We don’t have any suggestions at this time. Tendrils and Curls was opening a salon near Sugar Land, but we are not sure if that has launched.
Karen, You may also want to check out Lady Ayri Natural Hair Salon. She’s located near Beltway 8.
Hello,
Can you suggest a natural hair salon in New Jersey, close to Browns Mills, NJ.
Thank you.
