The number one question I am always asked pertains to hair growth. Never fails! On my hair growth journey, I have tried a lot of different tips and tricks to maximize it. When it comes to growing long, healthy locks, it is important to stimulate hair growth and retain length. I’ll be sharing a few of my tips that cover both of those key components!
The first tip is such an old hair hack, but I feel it’s been forgotten about over time. I’m talking about hot oil scalp treatments! It’s an easy way to stimulate hair growth if you incorporate the right ingredients. This hack is also great for those with a sensitive scalp, that suffer from dandruff, flaking, or an itchy scalp. Plus, a hot oil treatment is really simple to do! I like using the Shining Star Hair and Scalp Elixir because its a blend of ten different oils. Here’s how:
First, warm the oil in hot water. Pour the amount you’ll need into an applicator bottle and place the bottle into hot water to warm the oil. Once the oil is warm but not hot (please test temperature before application), section your hair, and apply to the scalp evenly. Bonus tip: to stimulate the scalp even more massage your scalp with the oil for a few minutes. Then cover hair with a plastic cap for about 30 minutes. Shampoo, condition, done. Easy right?
The next tip I have pertains to length retention because you’ll want to keep those ends healthy too! I have to admit I’m not the best at this tip, personally, but it really does make a huge difference… Let’s talk deep conditioning. I recommend taking it a step further and using an intensive strengthening hair mask once a month. This will give your hair that pick me up it needs sometimes to thrive. The new Heal and Renew Intensive Hair Masque is one of my favorite masks because you can FEEL the difference in your hair after using it. You can even do this at the same time as the hot oil scalp treatment to maximize your wash day.
Last tip: moisturize between wash days! A really easy way to do this is to use a moisturizing refresher spray. Thirsty Curls Leave-In Curl Revitalizer or Midnite Train Leave-In Conditioner are great products to help add in needed moisture. Both are formulated with glycerin which helps pull moisture from the atmosphere right into those strands.
