This summer’s heatwave has been one for the books! You may have noticed that your hair is a little drier than usual, and may not be able to figure out just why that’s the case. we’re here bring a little light to the reasons you wouldn’t even guess and help you find a solution, so keep reading!<\/p>\n

Applying the right oils and even a pre-poo can help your hair out!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

  1. You’re over-clarifying your hair<\/em><\/strong>: A deep cleansing shampoo is our friend when buildup has gotten out of hand, but using it too much can cause extreme dryness to our tresses. It’s best to limit your clarifying shampoo sessions to once or twice max, per month. Our Bye-Bye Buildup Cleansing Conditioner<\/a> is a great alternative to help with achieving cleanliness and moisture at the same time, between deep cleansing with shampoo. Another tip is to pre-poo with your favorite oil (castor, almond and jojoba oil are great options) to retain moisture and help with tangling post-wash.<\/li>\n
  2. You’re not using a leave-in <\/em><\/strong>(or the right one): Just washing your hair isn’t going to cut it. You have to apply layers to your hair of quality product (to reduce buildup to begin with) in order to retain moisture.   3. The water in your home is hard<\/strong><\/em>: Some areas have hard water that leave residue on your dishes, your skin, or even your scalp, which causes some of the dryness you are experience. Try using a water filter to soften it or distilled water to help your hair along. You can also try exfoliating your scalp before switching up your water options to start anew.<\/li>\n
  4. Just had a baby?<\/strong><\/em>: Postpartum can also greatly effect your hair’s ability to retain moisture (and grow). Some tips we’ve seen across the net include deep conditioning, and applying oils like sweet almond and castor to help stimulate growth. Your little one deserves a happy mommy, so be sure to take some time to pamper yourself!<\/li>\n
  5. Your hair is too tight!<\/strong><\/em>: Pulling your hair too tightly into styles (and leaving it there) can be one of the main reasons you’re experiencing dryness. Loosen up a bit, and give your curls a little break.\n
