Lately, I\u2019ve been thinking about my hair journey and how far I\u2019ve come since I made the decision to return to natural almost 10 years ago.\u00a0 With there only being a few months left in this year, I\u2019ve actually adjusted a few of my hair goals.\u00a0 I know that there are a lot of naturals who focus on length and\u00a0there is nothing wrong with that at all. Well, I have a few personal goals that I\u2019ve set for my hair.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve noticed that as I\u2019m getting older, I am definitely seeing a change in my hair.\u00a0 So now, I\u2019ve had to tweak my hair care regimen.\u00a0 One of the goals that I have is maintaining healthy hair.\u00a0 What does healthy hair look like?\u00a0 Healthy hair is moisturized and has elasticity (the ability to resume its normal shape after being stretched).\u00a0 Because I have color treated hair, my hair can tend to be dry and brittle at times which can lead to breakage and creates a challenge when it comes to retaining length.\u00a0 So I\u2019ve incorporated the <\/span>Heal and Renew Intensive Hair Masque<\/a>\u00a0to deep condition my hair at least once a month. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Deep conditioning is a super important part of my hair care routine!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In addition to maintaining healthy hair by deep conditioning on a regular basis, I also want to wear more protective styles.\u00a0 I\u2019ve learned over the years that protective styles help me to keep my hands out of my hair.\u00a0 Low manipulation styling is another great way to retain length.\u00a0 So while my hair is growing, protective styling can help me retain length.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another goal I have is to do a better job of keeping up with my trims.\u00a0 I typically get my hair trimmed twice a year and that\u2019s been working fine for me.\u00a0 I do think that trimming more regularly would allow my hair to flourish even more.\u00a0 Holding on to dry, dead ends only hinder the healthy hair and growth retention process.\u00a0 I\u2019m confident that by doing monthly deep conditioning treatments, along with trimming more regularly, my hair will look and feel better than ever.\u00a0 I plan on documenting my healthy hair journey with pictures too.\u00a0 Some times our hair is making tremendous progress but we can\u2019t really tell from looking at it daily.\u00a0 Documenting my journey with pics and\/or videos allows me to see the progress over time so I can truly see how far I\u2019ve come.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lastly, one of the many great things about being natural is the versatility.\u00a0 Let me be honest, I\u2019ve always been one that plays it safe when it comes to styling my hair.\u00a0 Once I\u2019ve mastered a style, I tend to stick with it and play it safe.\u00a0 Well, another goal of mine is to really explore creating different styles.\u00a0 Styles that will compliment my facial features.\u00a0 I specifically love updos and would love to find more ways to create stylish updos.\u00a0 My go to styling product is the <\/span>Curly Magic Curl Stimulator<\/a>.\u00a0 I\u2019ve tried a few different styles and used it for each one.\u00a0 It\u2019s been PERFECT for my protective styles, twist outs and puffs.\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait to try a curly look like a rod set or braid out.<\/span><\/p>\n
