Over the past decade, women truly defined the term “Girl Power”<\/a>. Women have the uncanny ability to go from strangers to sisters in a short amount of time. If it was up to me, we started the term “Group message”. The threads typically have topics about the type of guy you’re dating, suggestions on what dress to wear for lunch, and the hottest topics. This is our girl code of ethics, it’s our way of getting friends and family approval before making any rash decisions.<\/p>\n

I recall the quote: “If you want something said, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman.” I still can’t wrap my head around the thought that women are out here being movers and shakers.<\/a> We run companies<\/a> or lead teams in our careers, while planning our kids’ birthday parties, our anniversary dinners, school galas, meals for the week, play dates and post-game snacks…amongst a host of other events. (Whew…I am tired just thinking about the laundry list of things I have to do each week!)<\/p>\n

Find your tribe so you can combat the world together<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Over the years, the sisterhood<\/a> meaning has risen to an all-time high. This is in part due to the volume of demands we now face as power women, and the recognition that we can’t do it all without a LOT of support! So many of our mothers were grouchy ALL the time, yelled at us ALL the time, and often crashed each night in her bed from exhaustion. This may have led to dysfunctional relationships or lack of self-esteem (and counseling down the road<\/a>). Our generation of women are working just as hard, but I would argue a littler “smarter” by leaning on our village of women supporters to help us be successful. Whether that is carpooling our kids around to various sports activities or just listening on the phone when your boss just pissed you off at the office!<\/p>\n

There are so many women who encourage sisterhood, including well known names like
\nJada Pinkett Smith<\/a>, but unspoken sheroes that fill our daily lives.<\/p>\n

Be that girl who roots for the other girl<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Men can sometimes mistake our support for just “hanging out”. They don’t see all the chats that happen behind the scenes that help make our lives easier. Just today, my “sister village” circulated a list of activities<\/a> for kids to do while out of school due to the coronavirus, along with a link to FACTUAL articles to help me understand strategies for helping to protect my family. A few Amazon clicks, I am will be armed and ready for the weeks ahead!  men mistake us being outspoken and determined as loud. As well as, confuse the word nurturing as needy. Our attractive quality is our way of making a footprint in the sand. This journey is impactful because we’re leaving a legacy for the generation behind us.<\/p>\n

Let’s make 2020 about building stronger tribes, and uplifting one another<\/a> through words. It can be as simple as complimenting a fellow woman on her outfit, hair, or shoes. Maybe it’s telling her how great of a job she did.<\/p>\n
