If you are trying to grow your hair, you might be reluctant to the idea of cutting some inches off of your hair. However, getting regular trims make way to a healthier and stronger hair. If you haven\u2019t had a haircut in a while, you might be wondering if it\u2019s time to get a trim. Although there is no set timeframe or schedule, it is recommended to get a hair trim every 5 to 8 weeks. Here are 3 signs your hair might need a trim ASAP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

#1 – Split Ends<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you haven\u2019t had a haircut or trim in a while, you might notice that you have damaged strands (due to heat styling, hair coloring, etc.).  The longer you wait to get a trim, the higher the chances that those split ends will turn into split hair strands. If you are wondering what a split end looks like, they are very easy to spot. Instead of a single hair strand, split ends look like two separate hair strands coming out of the hair shaft, forming a V shape. Split ends lack hydration and moisture. If you feel like your hair is becoming more dry and brittle, try deep conditioning hair masques. If you notice that those treatments don\u2019t nourish and bring moisture back to your hair ends, then it\u2019s definitely time to chop those split ends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are struggling with unraveling knots when brushing your hair or if you are noticing that your hair gets more tangled than usual, then it\u2019s time for a hair trim. Split ends can become knots and tangle your hair, especially in the shower or while you are sleeping at night. If you find your hair hard to comb all the way through, this means you have knots and tangles in your hair. Dry and damaged hair tangles easily and the more you tug at it, the more hair breakage will be caused. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, healthy hair should have the same thickness from top to bottom. If you notice that your hair is getting more brittle and thinner at the ends, you should trim your hair at the point where it starts to lose its density. Trimming fine hair at the ends will trigger hair growth and reduce hair damage. Another sign that your hair needs a trim is if you experience an increased amount of frizz and fly aways when styling your hair in twist outs, braid outs and\/or perm rod sets.
