Due to the pandemic, my haircare routine has completely changed. While my barber shop was closed due to the stay at home order, I decided to let my hair grow out; not by choice but by necessity. From there, I took a deeper dive into my hair and started learning more about my hair texture and curl patterns. This has allowed me to find out what works best for my hair and how to style my new \u201cgrown out\u201d hair. My curls are very thick and my hair has always felt dry, so it was important for me to have a consistent hair care regimen to keep my hair moisturized and my curls nourished. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first thing I started implementing with my hair is to tie it up every night with a satin scarf so it\u2019s not as hard to manage when I start my day. Another thing I changed that was very important as well is that I stopped washing my hair so much. Before, I used to wash my hair very frequently. I work out 4 to 5 times a week, and I would wash and condition my hair every time I worked out because I thought that was the right thing to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently with my new hair growth, I stopped washing my hair daily. I do use Bye-Bye Buildup as a co-wash once a week but as far as washing my hair, I now do that every 2 weeks at the most. When I wash my hair, I love using Squeaky because it cleanses my hair \u201cnaturally\u201d and it doesn\u2019t contain any harsh ingredients or parabens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also have become a firm believer in the importance of hair masks. At least once a month, I put on a hair mask. After I wash my hair, I apply Heal & Renew and let it sit in my hair for about an hour and half then I rinse it out. I’ve learned that it\u2019s helped keep my hair clean and healthy so I try to do that once a month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to my day to day regimen, I use Midnite Train every day as my leave-in conditioner (I like how it smells and how it makes my hair feel). I have very thin curls but I do have a lot of hair on my head and I don’t like greasy products, that\u2019s why Midnite Train works for my hair type (3a 3b). Every morning, I first start by wetting my hair, then I use Midnite Train and follow up with Extra Butter to lock moisture in my hair. If I’m not wearing a hat that day, and I want my curls to be more defined, I add on Supercurl. I use a little bit on my fingers and comb through my hair and that\u2019s it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the evening, right before I tie up my hair in a silk scarf, I use some black seed and castor oil drops in my hair to help seal in moisture overnight and to help promote hair growth. Also, to maintain the health of my curls, I am now planning to get a small chop every month and half or two months. Getting frequent trims will remove split ends on my hair (and beard!) so the more small chops I’m getting, the healthier and stronger my hair will grow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another tip I have is to take multivitamins. When it comes to my hair specifically, I take 2 Biotin gummies everyday. I’ve been consistently doing that and I’ve noticed how my hair, nail and skin feel. Drinking plenty of water daily in addition to the 2 Biotin gummies have helped me tremendously with my overall hair health and growth. And it\u2019s also helping me make sure my hair is not breaking and my beard isn\u2019t getting split ends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s pretty much my daily hair care routine. I am a firm believer in the importance of a healthy regimen and nurturing your hair and body inside and out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
