I decided to transition from a relaxer to natural hair 10 years ago. In 2012 I decided to start this natural hair journey; in which at that time there weren\u2019t many naturals so I really went into this blind. 2013 is when I chopped off all of my relaxed ends, and that\u2019s when my journey began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had no clue on how to style my hair or no one to even give me tips or advice because I didn\u2019t know any naturals or even knew about YouTube. I really had to force myself to try to figure out what works best for my hair. Purchasing products was a headache but I continued to try out different products to see which one worked best for me. As time went on I went through stages where I would wear weave and wigs to try and hide my hair, or I would straighten my natural hair. Straight hair was all I knew and I was slowly gravitating back to my relaxer days because of the lack of knowledge I had and that\u2019s what I was used to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few years later is when I discovered YouTube and also Instagram, and that\u2019s when it really began for me. I would constantly study how other natural hair influencers did their hair and also the products that they were using. It was one video I ran across where one was speaking on moisture retention and deep conditioning their hair and how it really changed the game for them. Now mind you, even though I would use different products I realized that my hair wasn\u2019t acting like I wanted because it lacked moisture and I never deep conditioned my hair. I started to implement deep conditioning once a week. My hair and curls dramatically changed! I started to fall in love with my hair more and more and that\u2019s when I decided to take on the journey of being a natural hair influencer myself. Throughout my journey I would document different hairstyles and how different products worked on my hair. Doing this made me own my curls even more because it gave me a boost of confidence that I never knew I had. As I was documenting, I was learning my hair and was able to see what worked and what didn\u2019t. I was able to show others that it\u2019s ok if a style doesn\u2019t come out how you wanted or if your twistout becomes frizzy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One fail does not mean that you give up, just keep trying. You have to apply yourself and have an end goal. You have to believe in yourself and keep applying pressure.
