I\u2019ve been natural for years now and it has truly been a journey. I\u2019m constantly learning new methods and techniques that work best for my hair. The thing I struggled with the most was finding products that worked for my hair. There are so many styles I\u2019ve tried that ended up being a fail but I finally figured out what works for me! Here is how I changed my 4C hair styling game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Identify The Problem Area!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When I first decided to go natural, transitioning from getting a relaxer every 6 weeks to not at all was not easy for me. However, looking back I think it was one of the best decisions I could have made for my hair\u2026 I just needed to learn how to care for it. Alongside finding the right products for my hair, I had trouble finding hairstyles that I could actually execute. For years I stuck with rollers and Bantu knots because it was the only thing that worked. I\u2019ve always wanted to rock a twist out, but I had been attempting to do it on my hair for years and was unsuccessful. After a while, I gave up trying and assumed twist-outs on 4C hair were impossible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Get A Hair Consultation With An Expert!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A few months ago I had the pleasure of attending an Uncle Funky\u2019s Daughter event for their Maximum Thermal Protection<\/a> line. They had a Q&A portion of the event where I asked the stylist: \u201cIs it possible to achieve a twist out on 4C hair? I\u2019ve tried multiple times and it just never works for me.\u201d Little did I know the answer was YES, it is possible with the right technique. After talking to the hairstylist at the event I realized I was doing it all wrong. She talked me through the technique of blowing out my hair using the Primer<\/a>, Split End Serum<\/a>, and 3 in 1 Shine Booster, then using a butter<\/a> or creme<\/a> to moisturize and set the twists. After the event, I had some Uncle Funky\u2019s Daughter products on hand and was so excited to try the new technique. It didn\u2019t disappoint, my twist out was beautiful! I was so excited and relieved to know that my hair could achieve this look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve been unsuccessfully trying to achieve a particular style, I strongly recommend getting a hair consultation with a natural hair expert. This probably wasn\u2019t new information for the other women at the event, but, for me, it was the game-changer that I\u2019d been looking for! It gave me hope that there are so many more styling possibilities when it comes to my 4C hair. I\u2019m so excited to continue my natural hair journey and see what else my hair is capable of! For all of my 4C naturals that are at a difficult point in their hair journey\u2026keep going\u2026there is a way!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
