When you feel your best, you look your best! Who else agrees with me? There is also a saying \u201cGO BIG OR GO HOME\u201d which applies to all naturalistas that want voluminous, moisturized, and defined curls. I\u2019ve dedicated years to learning my hair and finding what works best for me. If you have fine hair (like myself) it\u2019s a bit more challenging to get volume but I figured it out! Here is the best curly hair routine for volume, moisture, and definition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s start from the top: CLARIFY!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Product buildup can weigh your hair down and prevent hair volume! In order to prevent product buildup, try to clarify your hair at least once a month. My favorite cleansers from Uncle Funky’s Daughter are Bye-Bye Buildup<\/a> and Squeaky<\/a>! <\/strong>Bye-Bye Buildup <\/strong>is gentle on your hair and nourishes your curls, and Squeaky is infused <\/strong>with tea tree oil and menthol giving you the ultimate deep cleanse. Both are a definite game-changer for anyone trying to remove product buildup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next up: STYLING!  (<\/strong>my favorite part \"🥰\")<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Styling on wet hair with products that won’t weigh your hair down will help maximize volume and definition. The trick is not to layer too much product on your hair! First, use the Thirsty Curls<\/a> Leave-In Curl Revitalizer from Uncle Funky\u2019s Daughter! It’s super lightweight, very hydrating, and will give you much-needed moisture without weighing your hair down. Follow up with the Curly Magic<\/a> Curl Stimulator which is aloe-based, tames frizz, and provides hydration. I like to scrunch my hair with this product to define my curls and give them a little bounce!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DIFFUSING VS AIR DRYING<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Everyone has their own preference on whether to diffuse or air dry\u2026I like to do both! Air drying will give you more definition and diffusing will give you more volume. In order to get definition AND volume, I let my hair air dry for 20 minutes with NO touching or manipulation. After 20 minutes, I flip my hair upside down and diffuse on the LOW COOL setting. Diffusing on low cool vs diffusing on hot\/warm minimizes frizz while still creating volume. Whew Chile, this is a science!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FINAL STEP!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once my hair is 100% dry I lock in moisture by scrunching my hair with the Glossy<\/a> Finishing Hair Polish. This hair polish is infused with safflower and jojoba oil and will hydrate your hair giving it a beautiful shine, softness, and bounce. I either spray my hair directly or spray (2-3 times) on the palm of my hand before rubbing them together and scrunching the product throughout my hair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
