Hey, Curl friends! Many of us are trying to knock out our length goals before the end of the year and it can be especially challenging during the cooler months. So, I put together some of my best tips to retain length so that you can slay the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"How<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Wear stretched hairstyles.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you follow me on social media (@koiyaaaa<\/a>) then it\u2019s no secret that I love to work with stretched hair. I stretch my hair on wash day either by doing a twist out, braid out, or a quick blow out. Due to the lack of humidity, my stretched hair lasts me until my next wash day. You not only get the chance to show off your length but it can help you retain moisture when paired with the right products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moisturize your hair regularly.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Keeping your hair moisturized is key to retaining length during these months. The first way to keep your hair moisturized is to deep condition it every week religiously. I DO NOT PLAY about my deep conditions! Every week I use a good conditioner such as Richee Rich<\/a> and I let it sit on my hair for 15-20 mins. Another great way to add conditioner to your hair without having to wash it is by spraying Midnite Train<\/a>. This is a leave-in conditioner that can be used daily!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supercurl<\/a> is going to keep your hair from becoming extremely dry during the cooler months. Supercurl in my opinion is one of the more moisturizing cr\u00e8mes from Uncle Funky\u2019s Daughter. It locks in the hydration your hair needs to protect it from getting dry and brittle. My hair is normally dry on the regular, but it gets EXTRA dry in the winter. So this combo is a game changer for me. Midnite Train and Supercurl both come in a travel size. You can find them in the Ultimate Kinky & Curly Travel Kit<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"How<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Wear protective styles.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Protective styles are another go-to of mine, especially in the winter. I live in Florida. It is often hot and humid. I look forward to the winter months because all my protective styles are guaranteed to come out fire. I don\u2019t have to worry about running the risk of the Florida humidity expanding my twist out into an afro by noon. A 5-day-old twist-out is totally a thing for me in winter months. There is no way I would accomplish that in Florida\u2019s summer heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conclusion, the best way to retain length in your natural hair for the fall\/winter is to wear stretched protective styles and moisturize often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
