For as long as she\u2019d been wearing her hair natural, Demetris Anderson Walker openly longed to have\"Demetris_Anderson_Polaroid1\"<\/a> marvelous, beautifully defined\u00a0curls, just like those of her mother. And for as long as she\u2019d been expressing that desire, her mom, channeling the true essence of maternal wisdom, would simply tell her \u201cjust keep living.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

For a while, that seemed like that may be Demetris\u2019 only option. A naturalista for over twenty-five years, she first made the decision to go natural after realizing that maintaining a perm was not only time-consuming, but markedly ineffective.<\/p>\n

\u201cDealing with those chemicals, people assume it\u2019s easy. But to me, it was just a bunch of time that wasn\u2019t being spent wisely,\u201d she shared.<\/span><\/p>\n

To remedy, Demetris did the only thing that she saw fit \u2014 the vaunted Big Chop.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c[My hair] was past my shoulders. I woke up one morning, looked in the mirror and said \u2018You know what? This is a <\/span>lot<\/span><\/i> of work.\u2019 So I went to the barbershop, sat in the chair and told him to cut it off.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The chop immediately left Demetris ensconced in a new, thorough sense of freedom. But her natural journey was far from finished. From that point on, she labored tirelessly, in between her career as an administrative coordinator for the Fulton County prosecutor\u2019s office and the full-time job that is raising a son, trying to find a product that could truly produce the results she was looking for. And just as she reached the point where it felt like she\u2019d tried <\/span>everything<\/span><\/i>, she found Uncle Funky\u2019s Daughter by chance, during an old airing of a television feature.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI immediately got up and went to my computer and said \u2018Let me read about this. Let me see what\u2019s going on\u2019,\u201d Demetris recalled. \u201cI just started reading, reading, reading. I read the natural ingredients, watched the videos, and took it all in like \u2018wow.\u2019 \u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Being intrigued by the prospects of a product you haven\u2019t yet tried is one thing, of course. But seeing, feeling and experiencing the results is a completely different entity altogether. And for Demetris, the proof was very much in practice; her first foray with Curly Magic<\/a><\/strong> yielded magnificent results, and she hasn\u2019t looked back since.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt elongates my curl pattern, and it makes it more defined. It gives me what I\u2019m looking for,\u201d she explained. \u201cI just follow the instructions \u2013\u00a0take my shower, wet my hair, put my Curly Magic<\/a><\/strong> in and let it air dry. I love it!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Demetris_Anderson_Polaroid2\"<\/a>So much so, in fact, that she\u2019s hardly shy about singing Curly Magic\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> praises to any and everyone who\u2019ll listen.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYesterday I was in Target buying some more, and this young lady standing next to me said, \u2018Oh, I\u2019ve never heard of that brand,\u2019 Demetris recounted. \u201cAnd I said, \u2018Well honey, let me tell you something!\u2019 She walked right away from the register and went got some Uncle Funky\u2019s Daughter.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

And yet, the most satisfying facet of Demetris\u2019 discovery is that through all of her trials, she was finally able to attain the one thing she sought most.<\/span><\/p>\n
