✊🏾 Recognizing the CROWN Act: An Initiative for Inclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Black Hair Independence Day,<\/a> also known as National Crown Day<\/a>, is
celebrated on July 3rd to commemorate the signing of the CROWN Act<\/a>. It’s a day to
celebrate Black hair and culture, and to advocate for the passage of the
CROWN Act nationwide to end hair discrimination in all settings<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This important legislation protects against hair discrimination in workplaces, schools, and public spaces. It recognizes the challenges that Black people and others with textured hair face when wearing natural or protective styles\u2014such as locs<\/strong>, twists<\/strong>, braids<\/strong>, and afros<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CROWN Act<\/strong> (Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair) represents a cultural shift<\/strong>\u2014one that acknowledges the beauty of natural hair and rejects both racial<\/strong> and aesthetic bias<\/strong>. It affirms our right to embrace our natural selves<\/strong>, unapologetically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

🌱 Acceptance Starts with Self-Awareness<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

True acceptance goes beyond legal protection<\/strong>\u2014it begins with how we see ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People with natural hair often experience pressure to conform to Eurocentric beauty standards. But today, we’re rewriting the narrative and reclaiming our roots<\/strong>\u2014both literally and symbolically. From locs to afros<\/strong>, braid-outs to finger coils<\/strong>, we\u2019re celebrating every natural style in its authentic<\/strong>, unapologetic glory<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Embracing our natural selves means unlearning<\/strong> the messages that once told us we weren\u2019t enough. It takes intention<\/strong>, affirmation<\/strong>, and the strength of community<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
