During the colder months, we usually tend to neglect our hair which causes it to dry out and become more brittle. That’s why Spring is the perfect season to condition your hair and bring it back to life. Here are 3 easy DIY hydrating hair masks that you can make at home to bring shine and moisture back to your hair.
Mask #1 – Coconut Oil & Honey
In a clean bowl, add 1/4 cup of honey and 3 tablespoons of coconut oil. It’s better to melt your coconut oil prior to adding it to the honey so that it’s easier to apply on your hair. Mix both the honey and coconut oil together and voila! Your hair mask is ready. Coconut oil is a key ingredient, it will moisturize your hair while honey will lock in the moisture and promote hair growth.

Mask # 2 – Grape Seed Oil, Avocado & Banana
In a bowl, smush your banana with a fork until it turns into a paste consistency. Then add a ripe avocado (you can use half an avocado if you have shorter hair) and one spoon of grapeseed oil. If you don’t have grapeseed oil you can substitute it with olive oil. Mash all these ingredients together to obtain a perfect paste consistency. Avocados contain natural fats which are great for moisturizing your hair. Grapeseed or olive oil will nourish your hair and promote blood circulation in your scalp. A good hair scalp blood circulation makes hair follicles stronger, therefore producing healthier and stronger hair strands. As for the bananas, they will add shine and control dandruff.

Mask #3 – Coconut Milk & Honey
Empty a can of coconut milk into a clean bowl and mix it well. Add 2 tablespoons of honey and mix everything together. You will end up with a runny consistency, which is why I recommend adding this mixture into a bottle and slowly pouring the mask onto your hair while massaging your scalp. Coconut milk is an important ingredient for hair health. It restores dry and damaged hair, soothes itchy and irritated scalp, conditions hair and promotes hair growth. It’s an all-in-one ingredient!
It’s better to leave these hair masks on your hair for at least 30 minutes to an hour. If you are at home and have more time to spare, you can leave them on for longer. The longer your hair and scalp absorb these ingredients, the better. Also, make sure to use smaller quantities when making your hair masks to avoid wasting ingredients. I hope you will give these masks a try!
