One thing I know for sure is that the holidays are always a busy time of the year! Whether you are a mother of multiple children or a mommy to one curly kid, there is always enough time for you to style and slay your own tresses for the holidays. Here are my top tips for all the busy moms during the busiest time of year.

Holiday Hair Tip #1 – Start wash day early!
As a mom of three, getting ready for the holidays is a never-ending challenge. To begin, I like to start my day with a positive mindset. The first step towards that is getting organized. I ensure my space is tidy before I begin brainstorming. Then I outline our family outfits and the holiday hairstyles for my daughters and I. Now to really get me moving on schedule, I turn up the jams. Music is my heart and joy so genres like Hip Hop, R&B and Salsa help motivate me to get things done. Once the brainstorming is complete, I plan out all of our wash days and the holiday hair styling begins. My son is only three months old, so I don’t have to do much with him besides get him dressed and brush his curls. However, my daughters are a different story. I like to make sure I give myself more than enough days in advance to wash and style their hair. This affords me a safety net in case wash day does not go as planned.

Holiday Hair Tip #2 – Be Creative!
My top three hairstyles are braids, twists and rod sets. The plethora of styles that can be created with braids, twists and rods are amazing! Box braids are one of my favorite hairstyles because they can be worn as a halo braid, classic top knot, bun hawk, or a half up half down style. My second top style are twists. The twist look can be worn beautifully on its own or you can rock a defined twist out. Lastly, there are rod sets. With this style, I like to go for a classic sleek ponytail with curly ends. This guarantees that even if the curls are not perfect you still have something to work with. All styles mentioned are versatile and can be worn in various ways, giving you many options for the holidays so don’t be afraid to get creative.
Holiday Hair Tip #3 – Just get it done however you can!
Most holidays, I am either the first one done or the last to finish. Overtime I have learned to not stress about the small, last minute things that pop up and just focus on looking and feeling my best! One extra thing I love to do is paint my nails. If you are short on time try painting your own nails right after wash day. Remember, perfection is not important so don’t stress.
