There’s a song that says “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”. Well, it’s 2020, a year like no other so it really depends on who you ask. The Holidays are filled with all kinds of emotions. From sadness and loneliness to joy and laughter. Regardless of where you may land on the spectrum, there’s one thing that we can all agree on, this holiday season is unlike anything we’ve ever experienced before. With that in mind, I have a few tips to help us survive this holiday season.

Spread some holiday cheer. An easy and inexpensive way to spread cheer this season is to send a Christmas card to those you love and care about. With everything being so digital, it would be a pleasant surprise for your loved ones to walk to their mailbox and see a personalized Christmas card from you.
Create New Memories. This year is the perfect opportunity to create new memories and start new traditions. Especially if you’re looking for some options on a budget. I’d like to share a few recommendations.
Family/Friends recipe swap. Since a lot of us won’t be able to visit with our families and friends, a great way to stay connected is to set up a video chat and share your favorite recipes. Even hosting a virtual dinner is an option. It’s something that I am sure we may be a little tired of but listen, it’s a safe way to stay connected. Especially for those that may be older or have underlying conditions.
Holiday scavenger hunt. It’s a creative way to have family time and keep it interesting for the kiddos (and even adults). This can be done virtually too! There are items you can have everyone search for like, Christmas ornaments, something red, Christmas stockings, etc. You’d want to think of common items that people would have while still making it a challenge.

Free ideas with the family:
Old school game day. Play board games like checkers, monopoly or cards like UNO.
Pajama party. Have the family create fun pajamas using items around the house. Then take pics to capture the memories.
Pull out the decorations. Decorate your home using items you already have. This helps to really get your family in the holiday spirit.
The most important thing to do during this season is focus on and appreciate what we have and not what we don’t have.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
xoxo
