When it comes to healthy hair growth – there are a few techniques that I consider essential! Today, I am sharing 5 of my best tips to grow thick/long natural hair!

Tip # 1: Pre Shampoo
Of course, starting with wash day, I love to do a pre-shampoo treatment. This treatment kickstarts the wash-day process and helps the health of your hair in the long run – including minimizing shedding.
Tip #2: Scalp Scrubs
I also love scalp scrubs which I implement into my healthy hair routine once a month. Scalp scrubs allow for the scalp to feel renewed by sloughing off the dead skin.
Another benefit of using a scalp scrub is that it creates a clean environment for the hair to grow. This step has been a huge game-changer and makes my scalp feel so fresh!
Tip #3: Low Manipulation Styling
Another technique I love is to style my hair in low manipulation styles that last a week or two -such as twists and braids. Low-manipulation styles help so much in preventing you from constantly touching, combing, and doing more than necessary to your hair.

Tip #4: Moisturize Often
When I did the big chop from waist-length hair in 2014, I knew this was the right decision for me. Now that I have tried so many different lengths for my hair, I want to get back to waist length! For waist-length hair, I prioritize staying on a consistent routine, as mentioned above.
In addition, I wash my hair every one to two weeks to stay on the “healthy hair track.” I have noticed washing my hair (including a nice cleanse and conditioning treatment) helps prevent my hair from drying out. Whenever my hair feels a little dry, I will quickly moisturize it to prevent breakage! This step is crucial to avoid unnecessary hair damage!
If you prioritize healthy hair, you will automatically retain length. Try implementing these habits for the health of your hair, and you will be at waist length in no time!
Tip #5: Be Consistent
I know there is a lot more to growing thick/long natural hair, but these are the fundamentals. Once you develop a great routine that works for you and your lifestyle – continue to do that! I’ve seen tremendous growth when I listen to my hair and its needs! It’s also important to act quickly and not wait until the next few days to care for your hair.
Remember, consistency is key!
