Let’s Talk… Hair! The past two weeks have been extremely busy for me. Last week I was in Chicago, and the week before that, Jacksonville. At times, I see why I would straighten my hair so much when I was younger. WHERE DO YOU FIND THE TIME?! The answer is proper planning. Here are my top 3 things every curlista on the move should do!

1. Pick a hairstyle that your hair likes.
If you follow me on Instagram (@koiyaaaa), you know I LOVE switching up my style. Along with switching up my outfits, I like to switch up my hairstyles too. A weekend on the move can make this very difficult! That is why my go-to hairstyle is a twist-out. I love a good twist-out! I find it easy to do, and it gives me the same results every time. Twist-outs are a great way to keep my hair hydrated with the least amount of manipulation.
For example, here is my styling process for a three day weekend:
- The first day, I use Supercurl to twist my hair. I wear the twists as they are before unraveling!
- The second day, I take down my twists using Curly Magic and wear a twist-out.
- On the third day, I refresh my curls using Thirsty Curls…and either wear a curly bun or a half-up, half-down hairstyle.

2. Never miss a wash day.
I always find time for a wash day! For me, it is every Wednesday! The deep conditioning portion is so crucial for my overall hair growth process. I instantly noticed a difference in my hair when I started deep conditioning weekly. I know, I know…EVERY WEEK?! YES!
My current favorite to deep condition with is the Heal & Renew Intensive Hair Masque from Uncle Funky’s Daughter. I noticed my hair thrives the most when I use an oil-based hair mask. The Baobab oils in this product SPEAAAKKKSSS to my curls!
3. Choose a style that is easy to refresh without washing.
Another reason I chose a twist out as my go-to hairstyle is I find it easy to refresh. I do not like to comb out or separate my twist-out! At night when it’s time to twist my hair up again, I don’t have to recreate the parts. The parting is already done. I then apply Extra Butter, grab the two separated pieces and twist each area back. No other manipulation of the hair is needed.
I hope that my tips for curlistas on the move inspire you to optimize your hairstyling routine.
xoxo
