Everyone is looking for some specific product or practice that will give them healthy, moisturized hair. Well, let me tell you….. I don’t have a magic trick or special potion. However, here are 4 hairstyling tips and hacks for healthy, moisturized hair!
1) Start on clean and conditioned hair.
The most important component of a great style is clean, conditioned hair. In order to achieve a fantastic hairstyle, you must rid your hair of the products from the prior hairstyle. This is important whether or not you are wearing your hair curly or straight.
When I blow out my hair, I make sure to clarify my hair with a great cleanser and follow up with a deep conditioner. With the Uncle Funky’s Daughter Maximum Thermal Protection collection, I didn’t have to go out searching for products that work for heat styling. In this collection, they have everything that I need! After using the products, my hair felt clean and hydrated, and ready to be blow-dried.

2) Clip away those split ends.
Split, ragged ends will ruin any style! When I was younger, I was convinced that I needed to hold on to my length and that trimming my ends was somehow bad. Boy was I wrong!!! Frayed ends contributed to a lot of bad hair days. The last thing you want is for those split ends to keep splitting upwards. The Maximum Thermal Protection Line also includes a Split End Serum to protect and strengthen your ends when heat styling.

3) Switch to water-based products.
Last year I made the switch to only using water-based products (products where the first ingredient is water) to style my hair. This is something that I truly believe made a world of difference to my hair over the past year. Since doing this, I don’t worry about moisturized or hydrated hair or trying to do some long-drawn-out hydration method. My hair has what it needs to retain moisture – WATER. The key to hydration is WATER! So choosing well-formulated products with water as the first ingredient has helped me achieve 7+ days with my hairstyles effortlessly. Most of the moisturizers and conditioners that I use from Uncle Funky’s Daughter have water as the main ingredient!

4) Protect your hair at night.
What good is a beautiful style if it’s only at its best on Day 1? Sleeping against cotton pillowcases can draw the moisture from your hair and cause unwanted frizz. I sleep with a satin-lined bonnet every night and have even switched to a silk pillowcase just in case that bonnet crawls off my head in the middle of the night. When I get up the next morning, I’m able to remove my bonnet, shake my hair and continue with beautiful day 2, 3, and even day 7 hair.
So even though there’s no magic potion available to give us moisturized, and beautiful hair, there are definitely some practical and achievable hairstyling tips that have magical results!
