Approaching the New Year with the confidence and tools to be the best version of yourself is so important! Being born and raised in Louisiana has taught me a lot about being confident, speaking up for yourself, and more. Here are 5 of the best confidence tips that I learned from growing up in Louisiana.

1) Be yourself.
Louisiana is like a rainbow (it’s vibrant) and reassures you that standing out feels better than trying to fit in! Living in Louisiana teaches you confidence! I hear a lot about self-love and self-care (which is equally as important,) but sometimes it’s as simple as LIKING yourself. When you genuinely like yourself, nothing in life can keep you down! Be vibrant like Louisiana, and don’t be afraid to be your authentic self.
2) Read a self-help book!
I was recently gifted a self-help book called, “21 Days of Healing,” from a friend named Radiant Le. This book is a great way to reflect on each day and notice room for improvement. The book also includes a plethora of social media memes that make you feel hopeful for the future. However, I believe that being true to yourself, learning from your experiences, and prayer makes a huge difference.

3) Express yourself and ask for what you want.
Louisiana has done so much for me inside and out. People here are NOT shy…they are helpful and always smiling. I was taught growing up to never be afraid to speak up – closed mouths don’t get fed! I ask for what I want.
All forms of expression, especially music and food, are allowed and encouraged in Louisiana. I’m blessed to have been surrounded by that my entire life. My advice would be to strive for authentic expression in everything you do!
4) Just start
My last tip on being confident is to just start! Start believing in yourself and be your biggest cheerleader! Depending on others can be disappointing and hinder your confidence. The possibility of letting yourself down becomes nonexistent when you love yourself. You are your own source of happiness and cannot be negatively influenced! This is the one time you can be unapologetically selfish. Are you your dream girl? If not, the work begins now!
I hope that these tips help ignite confidence as we approach the New Year!
