The holiday season is here and in the coming months, most of us will be consumed with holiday shopping, holiday parties, and family gatherings. We also have to consider the harsh cold weather because it can wreak havoc on our natural hair. On top of that, the constant use of hats to keep us warm is bound to make our curly hair frizzy and tangled! So what is a curly girl supposed to do? Below are 3 things your curls need to stay strong and healthy during the busy holiday season!

MOISTURE
Make sure to ALWAYS prioritize moisture. The cooler air in the fall/winter can strip our hair, making it feel dry and prone to breakage! Look for a good leave-in product with ingredients that attract moisture. One of my favorite moisturizers is Good Hair Conditioning Styling Creme by Uncle Funky’s Daughter. This is perfect for the busy holiday season because when you don’t have time to restyle your hair, you can apply Good Hair for quickly added moisture. I like to fill a spray bottle with water, add one or two pumps of Good Hair, shake then spray it on my hair. It does the trick every time!

SCALP MASSAGES
Every night I give myself a 3-5 minute scalp massage before going to bed. This will provide much relief after a hectic day! I like to add a few drops of the Shining Star Hair & Scalp Elixir to my fingertips, flip my hair upside down, and slowly massage the product into my scalp. Any product that is left over, I apply to the ends of my hair. Scalp massages not only allow me to unwind but it stimulates hair growth and nourishes dry brittle hair – promoting healthy hair and a healthy scalp!

PROTECTIVE STYLING
Braids, top knot buns, low buns, messy buns, loose ponytails, and even pineapples are considered protective styles. Protective styles are a great way to protect your hair from harsh cold weather. Keeping your ends tucked away will give your hair a much-needed break and low manipulation of the hair will prevent tangles and knots. My favorite product to use when protective styling is the Curly Magic Curl Stimulator. This product has a firm hold, tames frizz, and keeps your hair hydrated for days.
These small tips never fail to keep my curls strong and healthy during the busy holiday season. I hope they can help you too!
