Summer is right around the corner and many of us will be hitting the cruise ships, airplanes, and loading up cars to head to our much needed and anticipated vacation destinations. Planning, preparing, and packing for a vacation can be very hectic and time consuming, so for many the last thing we want to have to deal with is our HAIR!!!
Your vacation should be about relaxation, sight-seeing, food, excitement, and maybe even some shopping. Not spending time twisting, braiding, stretching, and co-washing. Let’s face it…how we are going to style our hair from day to day while on vacation should not be high on the priority list.
As a naturalista, when I plan for a vacation I do keep my hair in mind. I want to make sure my hair is styled in a way that will hold up for a few days or can easily transition into another hairstyle. I also like to make sure my outfits coordinate with my hairstyle. I understand that may be a bit much, but I like for everything to compliment one another. Lastly, I like to style my hair around what type of vacation I will be going on. If there are a lot of activities happening, I may opt for an up-do protective style so my hair won’t be in my way. If there will be water involved, I may just do a simple wash n’ go, because I wouldn’t mind getting that style wet.
Aside from deciding which hairstyle to choose, when it comes to packing my bags there are also a few key essentials that I must pack with me for maintenance and even for hair emergencies. Those key items are bobbi pins, hair ties, a hair brush, a wide tooth comb, hair gel/pomade, a moisturizer, a conditioner, a curl refresher, an oil blend, and 10 perm rods. These are a MUST for me and will help me with maintaining any style or transitioning into another style.
I store liquids, gels, etc…in the travel friendly 3.4 oz containers and all of my essentials get put in a separate small cosmetic traveling bag. I never use these items outside of traveling, so I can make sure I don’t forget anything and like the saying goes, I like to stay ready so I won’t have to get ready.
Now that I have shared with you the logic behind picking my style and my key essentials, I want to share with you some easy, low maintenance ways to style your hair when you are headed to your next vacation spot, check out My Top 5 Natural Summer Do’s and the necessary Uncle Funky’s Daughter products and other essentials I would use to create the style and take along with me in order to maintain the style.
