Yes! Summer time is officially over and it’s that time of the year again… BACK to SCHOOL. Summer came and went, so now we have to get back to our daily regimen of preparing our girls’ for school. Here’s a quick look into our survival guide for tackling hair for Back to School with UFD!

Our hair routine starts on Sunday. Sundays are for washing/co-washing, conditioning (deep), detangling, and prepping. I like to alternate the Uncle Funky’s Daughter Squeaky Deep Cleansing Shampoo until the girls’ hair is 75% dry. I then go in with the UFD Midnite Train Leave-In Conditioner. This next step is the major key in making your weekly morning routine a lot easier. Are you ready??? Part the hair. That’s right part the hair. Having the hair already parted can save you VALUABLE TIME in the morning. I usually braid or twist their hair to keep their parts separated and put on a satin cap/scarf.

Curly Magic Curl Stimulator is super versatile and can make your routine so much easier! Check it out on our site!

Wake up time. Our oldest, Kaileigh is in 4th grade, so gone are the days of those cute pigtails. With her hair parted in some up some down fashion, it leaves room for multiple hairstyles throughout the week. I usually start with the top section and spray a little of the Thirsty Curls Leave-In Curl Revitalizer. This gives it the moisture I need to comb through and gives her curls a little added volume and bounce. I then go in with the Curly Magic Curl Stimulator to keep her curls lasting throughout the day. I also use the Curly Magic to slick down her edges. It literally works like magic! I brush her hair up into a ponytail and secure it with a hair tie. To kick it up a notch, I usually braid a few of the strands and put little gold clips around them. With the bottom section, I follow the same process. Spray it with the thirsty curls and follow up with the Curly Magic. I smooth it out all the way through the ends. BOOM! One head down, one more to go.

Thirsty Curls Leave-In Curl Revitalizer is a perfect refresher for your morning routine with the kiddos!

Lennox’s hair is not as long as her older sister’s, so we love to style her with some cute curly puffs! Sounds good right?! Well it looks super sweet. I use the same process with Lennox’s hair as I do with Kaileigh’s, but Lennox has a different hair type so her curls need a little more TLC. After her little puffs are secure, I go in with UFD Extra Butter to help those 3c curls come to life. I then follow up with the Curly Magic to lock those curls in for a fun-filled day at daycare.

Fast forward back to bedtime! I don’t always detangle and repeat the same process… I’ve learned that sometimes day two curls turn out better than day one. I do however loosen their hair ties and tie their hair back down with a scarf or bonnet.

Getting back into the swing of things, especially back to school with kids can be extremely challenging. I hope you found our quick survival tips helpful. Good Luck!
