Healthy Hair First
Embracing your natural hair can be a challenge in itself, and establishing a regimen is even more difficult. Styling Your Hair
We believe that getting the perfect ‘fro is the result of a style – braid-out, twist-out, bantu knots, wash n’ go – but really? Proper care (including products) along with the right cut make all the difference. Finding the right products to maintain that desired style is the key. UFD has a trio of moisturizers for different needs and curl types. Good Hair Conditioning Styling Creme is a soft-hold formula that will instantly detangle, provide moisture, defrizz and add shine to your hair. Your curls will have definition, softness, shine and texture that will last the entire day. Our “butters,” Supercurl Miracle Moisture Creme and Extra Butter Curl Forming Creme are go-to products when it comes to moisturizing without buildup.
After washing and conditioning apply your choice of moisturize (this depends on your preference and the porosity/texture of your hair) evenly throughout. Supercurl has the ability to stretch out and detangle curls in very kinky, tight textures, yet define curls in medium to loose curly textures. Extra Butter is more often recommended for kinkier hair textures because of its thicker consistency but leaves no residue and also helps with desired definition. Protecting Your Hair
Nightly routine is also important for maintaining a fabulous, healthy ‘fro. There a a few options/suggestions for how to do this such as:
- Pineapple-ing, which consists of securing the hair loosely at the top of the head – but it works best on longer hairstyles, or
- Stretching/Banding – Try banding 3-5 sections of hair with a satin scrunchy. This works better for shorter hair to not only protect and preserve your style, but stretch the hair as well.
