When it comes to healthy hair, I keep these three things in mind when deciding what products I want to add into my regimen. First, does the product work for my hair, is it moisturizing, does it soften, add shine, boost elasticity? Second, do the products fit into my regimen, will these products cause me to have to do more to my hair or do I have to take extra steps while using them? Lastly, can I use the products on my entire family which includes my husband and my five children ages ranging from six months to ten years old? My regimen as well as my children’s regimen are super simple. I first want to ensure that our hair is cleansed properly then I want to make sure that our hair has been conditioned well, finally I will install a quick and easy style that takes no time at all. I like to use either Uncle Funky’s Daughter Squeaky which is their deep cleansing shampoo or their Rich + Funky which is their moisturizing cleanser. The Squeaky is more clarifying for our hair so I use it monthly and in between I opt for their Rich + Funky because it is more moisturizing and softening to the hair and will not strip all the natural oils.
The next step is to condition the hair. I will go straight into deep conditioning with their Heal + Renew Intensive Hair Masque. I use tit monthly to replenish the strands with strength and moisture. It is fortified with silk protein which can reduce breakage and leave the hair strands feeling resilient. It also gives the hair so much shine and nourishment from the baobab, avocado, and argan oils. In between deep conditioning monthly I can use their Richee Rich which is their rinse out conditioner to add moisture, softness and vitality to hair by only leaving it on the hair strands for a couple of minutes then rinsing.
Now, for the quick styling process, I opted for thicker products for our hair because the moisture will last for several days. I like to use Uncle Funky’s Daughter Extra Butter or SuperCurl just for that purpose. These stylers do not weigh the hair down if used sparingly and adds a ton of definition. For myself I usually do chunky twist outs because they are quick to install and for my children, I like to do protective styles such as braids and flat twists. Midweek when I need to re-moisturize our hair I can use their Thirsty Curls or Midnite Train, two of their leave-in conditioners, which are very lightweight and will provide daily conditioning to keep the strands soft and hydrated.
