Growing up with curly hair wasn’t a walk in the park for me. I didn’t know much about products and not to mention products that I should stay away from like silicones, parabens, etc. My mom slayed my tresses up until the 6th grade, where I decided to start doing my own hair. However, when it came to products, I just used whatever was around the house and picked up anything in the store without even glancing at the labels. I used to jump out the shower with my hair dripping wet, and just pack on a TON of mousse! It wasn’t until I started 8th grade when I discovered YouTube, and found curly hair gurus like SunkissAlba, and ShamelessMaya who taught me countless tips and tricks on how to take care of my curls! Ever since then I started researching how to take care of my hair, different oils to use, and how to care for my hair at night.

It’s still a continuous learning process as sometimes my hair tends to switch up on me depending on the season, thus having to find different products and methods that help keep these curls healthy and hydrated! Although I will say Uncle Funky’s Daughter Curly Magic product has always been a staple product in my wash n go’s, as well as Glossy! I’ve also been obsessed with oils, they’re a major part of my hair growth journey, and I can’t begin to stress that enough!

When I got my hair trimmed last year around June, it had been over 2 years since I last saw a stylist that I fully trusted, and of course I had a pretty good amount of split ends so she had to cut a good chunk off of my hair. Now keep in mind my hair was all the way to my bottom and she cut it to about my bra strap. At first, I liked it, but I wanted my long curly hair back, so back to researching I go! I googled a vast number of different oils and what they are good for, plus the pandemic still had everyone on edge and my hair was starting to fall out! I found one of my holy grail oils and it happens to be Cedarwood.

Cedarwood is good at promoting hair growth and reducing hair loss by balancing oil-producing glands in the scalp. With that being said, I quickly curated an oil that I use every other day and massage that into my scalp, as well as incorporating it in my deep treatments. I can now finally say in as less than a year my hair is WAY fuller, thicker and longer than ever!
