This time of year we find ourselves spending lots of money (budget, where??) and spending time with those who matter. It can seem like there’s not enough time or money to do what we want. However, there are ways to save on your natural hair care without sacrificing the health of your hair or the quality of your products.

1. Simplify your wash day!
I don’t care who you are or what you do, we all get the same 24 hours in a day to make it all happen. Adopting a simple hair care routine can give you some of your time back on wash day. No need for a 15-step wash day, just shampoo, condition, and style. The days of long wash days can be a thing of the past.

2. Choose simple hairstyles.
Another way to save time is to choose simple hairstyles. Styles like twist-outs and braid-outs can serve as 2-in-1 hairstyles. You can wear the twists/braids as a style for a few days and then a twist out/braid out for the remainder of the week. Wash and go (also known as wash and style) can also serve as a simple and quick hairstyle.

3. Look for product bundles/kits!
Between buying gifts and the usual expenses of life, it’s easy to sacrifice the quality of products you use in your hair care routine. One way to have access to the same quality on a smaller budget is to take advantage of travel-size kits such as The Ultimate Curly Girls Kit from Uncle Funky’s Daughter. They have other travel kits available as well, giving you access to their core products at a fraction of the cost.
4. Take advantage of giveaways and promotions.
Another way to save money is to take full advantage of giveaways and promotions that are offered. I took advantage of giveaways during my first year of being natural as a way to try different products and create content. UFD has a “Talk Tuesday Live ” every other Tuesday where they give away $50 UFD gift cards. It’s so easy to enter! Also, watch out for promotions and utilize your favorite influencer’s discount codes.
These tips are great for this time of year but can be used all year long. Time and money are life’s hottest commodities, so it’s always great to find ways to save them when possible. Knowing that this doesn’t mean sacrificing quality or health is surely the ultimate cherry on top.
