Are you a curly girl who struggles with frizz? Do you constantly struggle with ways to reduce your frizziness? Well, in this blog Defeating The Frizz, I will give my curly babes some Tips on how To Minimize Frizz. I will share my routine and products that I feel work best to restore moisture!
Having frizz is part of having curly hair, but there are ways to minimize frizz! Continue reading below to find out how…
Tips to Minimize Frizz.
- READ THE LABELS!
A good hair day starts with your wash. Do you wash your hair with shampoo that contains sulfates? Go check and see if your shampoo has any sulfates in them, (I’ll wait)…… That’s a big NO-NO! Sulfates strip your hair of its natural oils and leaves your hair feeling like straw (super dry and hard to manage).
Look for a shampoo like the Rich & Funky Moisturizing Cleanser, which is a Sulfate-Free, foamy cleanser.
2. DEEP CONDITION!
I cannot stress this enough! Yes it’s time consuming, but giving yourself a five to thirty minute deep conditioning hair treatment will give your hair maximum hydration! I use a weekly hair masque (I LOVE this masque btw). It hydrates, revitalizes and helps repair split ends which will reduce frizz.
I also love to add a hair oil while I’m deep conditioning, especially when my hair is feeling extra dry and has more frizz than usual. I’ll apply my deep conditioner in sections, then I will apply my hair oil on top. Cover your hair with a plastic cap and let that marinate for 20 minutes. I am always left with juicy moisturized curls!
Now to the fun part.
3. STYLING YOUR HAIR.
How do you style your hair? Do you style your hair like blaaah, slap some products on your hair and call it a day? (Don’t be a lazy curly girl) The products you use and how you apply your hair products play a major role in determining how your curls will look. Do you want moisture? Definition? Hold? Big fluffy hair? Or more polished curls? That’s why it’s important to understand your hair so you can know which products will work best for your hair type and your hair needs.
- Apply products on soaking wet hair. This will make it easier to evenly distribute the product. You want your products to soak into your hair, not just sit on top of your hair.
- Start with a Leave-In Conditioner. Make sure your hair is evenly coated with the leave-in. This leave-in is great for all hair types! With sunflower seed oil, it helps prevent dryness and frizziness, and it smells AMAZING!
- Follow up with a styler. It can be a gel styler, or a creme styler. It all depends on what your hair needs. One styler I cannot live without Curly Magic! I always have a good hair day when I use this styler. No wonder it’s #1 Best Seller! It gives my curls moisture and so much definition, with little to no frizz! I apply in sections after applying my leave-in.
- DON’T TOUCH YOUR HAIR! So you’re done styling your hair, right? I know you want to touch those beautiful moisturized frizz free curls. Don’t do it, sis!! The more you touch your hair the more frizz you will create.
Following these simple hair tips will help you achieve frizz free curls, and the right products will definitely help you minimize frizz!
