Maintaining and styling naturally wavy hair can be tricky and it’s easy to get discouraged. Your mane can turn from beautiful silky waves to a frizz fest very quickly! I’m here to change all of that and help you embrace your texture. All it takes is the right technique and the perfect combination of products to slay your waves. So, let’s get into my must-have products to minimize frizz and define wavy hair!
Techniques to minimize frizz on wash day!
I highly recommend investing in a blow dryer that has multiple heat settings (hot, cool, and warm) and a diffuser attachment. This will allow you to regulate the amount of heat you are applying to your hair and it will ensure that each strand dries thoroughly. This is the #1 way to minimize frizz and set your curls before starting your day.
I also exclusively use a microfiber towel each and every wash day! Microfiber towels are made from a material that is not harsh on your hair. As opposed to a regular bath towel which will rub against your hair creating friction and frizz. A good old cotton t-shirt will also work wonders and help reduce frizz!
Must-have products to define wavy hair.
I have three hairstyling products from Uncle Funky’s Daughter that are my go-to when styling my short wavy hair. I’ve listed them below, as well as their use:
- 3-in-1 Shine Booster: This is an oil-based product from their Maximum Thermal Protection line. It’s infused with 11 essential oils for unending shine, which also strengthens hair, reduces frizz, and protects your hair from heat damage. I apply this product to my ends right after towel drying.
- Supercurl Miracle Moisture Creme: This creme SMELLS DIVINE, hydrates the hair, and defines waves. I suggest saturating your hair with Supercurl before applying the next product.
- Curly Magic Curl Stimulator: An amazing gel with lots of slip that moisturizes and defines your waves with a pretty firm hold. I apply this product after Supercurl by scrunching it into my hair. Then I diffuse it with the blow dryer with a warm setting.
I know that wavy hair can feel intimidating to style but once you find what works you’ll feel confident! The above techniques and products helped me reduce frizz and define my natural waves to perfection. I hope that it does the same for you!
