The heat is on, and the curls are out so, what better way to rock your natural coils than a simple wash n’ go that’ll last you 3-4 days? Wash and go’s are my all-time favorite for the summer because they allow me to shake n’ go through the week with minimal touch ups when using moisturizing products like Uncle Funky’s Daughter.
So, here’s how you can create a bomb wash n’ go routine ideal for the summer heat in five easy steps using Uncle Funky’s Daughter products that you can find at your local RiteAid.
Step 1: Co-Wash
Because I wash n’ go so frequently, I typically use co-washes in the summer because my hair doesn’t have tons of buildup. I love using Uncle Funky’s Daughter’s Bye-Bye Buildup Cleansing Conditioner to start off my routine by focusing it on my scalp, then distributing the product to the rest of my shaft. What’s perfect about this co-wash is the fact that it doesn’t leave my hair feeling stripped or too squeaky, and I’m able to detangle with ease.
Step 2: Deep Condition
After the co-wash is rinsed out, I follow up with the Heal & Renew Intensive Hair Masque. You can’t be a hot girl with brittle hair or dry hair. So, take care of yourself and deep condition like the hot girl I know you are! Be sure to focus deep conditioner on your ends since it’s the oldest part of your hair, and cover with a plastic shower cap or grocery bag -hot girls are frugal too- and allow the product to work its magic for at least 30-40 minutes.
Step 3: Hydrate
Once I’m all deep conditioned and rinsed, I make sure that my hair is dripping wet so that it can completely absorb the products. I then go in with the Thirsty Curls Leave in Curl Revitalizer as a base for my style. This product has amazing slip, smells lovely, and will have everyone wondering “what did you spray in your hair”
Step 4: Moisturize
Never forget this step! Always, always, always, apply a moisturizing hair milk or hair butter. I typically use UFD’s Good Hair, but thanks to CEO Renee, I opted to using the Extra Butter Curl Forming Crème as my styler for my wash n’ go. Let’s just say, my curls drank this stuff up! It has great slip, forms curls, and really moisturizes my coils without feeling weighed down or greasy.
Step 5: Secure the curls
Just like “securing the bag”, you need to secure those curls! I absolutely love using the Curly Magic Curl Stimulator because my curls are super defined, have a beautiful shine, and have a firm hold without a hard crunch.
