When asked the question, “When do you relax? You’re always on the go,” I’d like to say I always have an answer in mind, but truth is… I don’t. Between completing all of my work tasks to get more UFD products into your hands and maintaining awesome my home life, I can honestly say that I don’t always take the proper time to execute proper “self-care.” In order to keep going healthily and effectively, IT’S A MUST! So, when I do relax and productively care for myself, here are a few ways that I enjoy doing so, and from today forward, I am committing to doing them way more often!
- Catch up on a show or guilty pleasure: I love the TV series, Law & Order SVU, but it’s not exactly the most kid-friendly show to watch. When I’ve put everyone to bed, that’s the best time to sneak a little time for my personal entertainment. This show is IT! I recommend taking some time to do that for yourself, whether it’s watching a tv show, taking a class, creating art… Whatever you like! Just do something you enjoy and cherish the moment for a little while.

It’s important to get some “YOU time” in order to be your best self! - Go for a run: Physical exercise is a major stress reliever for me! (Plus, burning a few calories never hurts.) Studies also show that spending at least 30 minutes outdoors promotes a healthier body and mind by exposing ourselves to Vitamin D, and alleviating stress, anxiety and depression. I try to “kill two birds” with this tip and GET MOVING!
- Get some sleep!: Adults usually need 7-8 hours of sleep every night, and I find that when I get an adequate amount of sleep, the next day just runs that much more smoothly.
- Create a “no” list: We all have things we know we don’t like or no longer want to do in order to better take care of ourselves mentally. Make some of those things off limits. Some examples are: Not checking emails before bed, not attending events you don’t wish to go to (usually to please others) and not answering your phone during meals or “me time.” Saying no is definitely a form of self-care.

Spending time with yourself isn’t a selfish thing! - De-Clutter: Last but not least, relieving myself of the mess that is sometimes my desk ultimately helps me feel a little better and release some of the stress I may be experiencing. Organization is an important part of not only being a business owner, but also a major part of being a mom! It’s also vital for keeping a clearer head space for getting work done.
I hope after reading this you are able to take some time to figure out what methods you can use to implement self-care into your life a little more frequently. You deserve!
xoxo,
Renee
