Tip 1: You’re on Baby’s Time
Setting a schedule for baby did not work in my favor. Instead, going with the flow and letting baby lead helped me so much in getting things done. Once Amari (my son) falls asleep, it’s either “go-time” or “nap-time”. Choose wisely. The best time for me to wash/condition and style my hair is at night. Once Amari falls asleep, I hop in the shower, use my Squeaky Deep Cleansing Shampoo, follow up with the Richee Rich Moisturizing Conditioner and peek to see if Amari is still sleeping. If he is, I moisturize my hair and throw it in a puff. Moms… Puffs are your best friends the first few months.

Tip 2: Quick Styles
My Top 4 styles that will last me for a couple weeks are the following: PUFFS, Sleek ponytails, mini twists, and WIGS. Protective styles are so convenient when you don’t have time to style your hair every 3 days. Keep in mind though, you still have to keep your hair moisturized. Spray on some Midnite Train Leave-In Conditioner to revive your crown. Don’t neglect her.
Tip 3: You Still Have to Deep Condition!
It is impossible to wash, condition and deep condition in one setting with a crying baby who wants to be held and stare into your soul every 2 minutes. I have found that deep conditioning overnight has been the best route for me.
Tip 4: Dealing With Hair Loss
As most of you who have been following my hair journey know, my edges have come a long way. Unfortunately due to post-partum hair loss, my edges have left the building. I have been able to hide my snatched edges with swoops, but I’m back to massaging Jamaican black castor oil in those areas that need the stimulation. Dealing with hair loss is a bummer for sure, but it’s not the end of the world. Smile and keep going, mama!

Tip 5: Wrap Up
As a new mom, your brain is everywhere. So is your hair. Don’t forget to wrap it up at night with a silk or satin scarf. This will help your hair retain moisture overnight, and protect it from materials like cotton that cause dryness and breakage.
